Shiva, Hindu god of destruction and rebirth, can easily be correlated to the New Moon. He embodies the principle that our true self lives on even after this life ends. Shiva Nataraja (pictured above) dances in a ring of fire in order to destroy things that no longer serve our highest good. This makes room for new habits and experiences. On the New Moon, call upon Shiva’s destruction through reciting his mantra and release. If dedicated to the process, this can be a truly moving and transformative experience.
Om Namah Shivaya – I bow to lord Shiva (his true self)
This is a purifying mantra that brings healing to body, mind, and soul.
This of course is a very simplified understanding Shiva. If he strikes a chord in your heart, it is highly recommended to do your own research and readings. Explore Shiva’s energy, his power is great and has much to offer us.
